The environement matters to us
At Gallery Afrique, sustainability isn't an afterthought — it's woven into every stage of how we operate, from the paper we print on to the servers that host our website.
Our Artists in the Field
Our photographers work with a simple principle: take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints. Their work celebrates the natural world — and they protect it while creating it.
Our business manager, David Dooley, is a registered Conservation League Donor for BirdLife South Africa.
Paper & Printing
Our fine art prints are produced on sustainably sourced cotton paper, chosen specifically for its eco-friendly credentials. Cotton is a natural, renewable material that reflects our commitment to responsible sourcing at every step of production.
Framing
Our wooden frames are crafted from FSC-certified Wawa wood (Triplochiton scleroxylon), sustainably harvested from certified plantations in West Africa. FSC certification is your assurance that the wood comes from forests managed to rigorous environmental and social standards.
Packaging & Shipping
We've thought carefully about how your artwork reaches you:
Rolled prints ship in cardboard tubes made from recycled paper — fully recyclable after use
Framed prints ship in sturdy Rebul crates — reusable and recyclable
Eco-Friendly Web Hosting
Even our digital presence is considered. Our website is hosted on eco-friendly dedicated servers that use energy-efficient data centres and refurbished hardware, minimising e-waste and reducing energy consumption.
Our Commitment
We believe art has the power to reconnect people with the natural world — and that the way art is made should honour that world in return. Every choice we make, however small, is guided by that belief.
FSC™ Forest Stewardship Council™ - Controlled Wood
“The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo on a wood or wood based
product is your assurance that it is made with, or contains, wood
that comes from FSC certified forests or from post-consumer waste.”
Beautiful art. Responsible practice. A greener future.
